As part of the Erasmus+ project Y-WISE TRANSFER, a three-day study visit took place in Gaziantep, Turkey. Building on the experiences of the previous meeting in Kosovo, the focus was further expanded to include migration, identity, democratic participation and social resilience.
Gaziantep, a city shaped by long-standing migration dynamics and a rich culinary heritage, provided a unique learning environment. Local gastronomy was deliberately used as a methodological approach to explore interculturality, inclusion and community building within youth work.
During the study visit, participants became familiar with youth and social work practices in migration-affected regions and reflected on how young people experience identity, belonging and participation in different cultural contexts. In addition, innovative approaches were discussed that use food culture as a tool for empowerment, intercultural dialogue and digital as well as social youth entrepreneurship projects.
The study visit significantly contributed to strengthening international networks between organisations from the European Union, the Western Balkans and Turkey, and laid an important foundation for the development of future joint Erasmus+ projects.
